Iadar, Jadar, and Zadar---The ever changing name of a city

Zadar, Croatia is a beautiful city I spent six months of my life in. It is also the traditional capital of the Dalmatian region, particularly the northern part. It dates back to Neolithic times when it was called Iadar (EEYAdar). Then in Roman times the name was changed to Jadar (YAHdar, like raDAR with a YAH). Later Croatians came from the north and changed it to it's modern form of ZAHdar, not ZAYDER or ZEder as most Anglophone speakers say it. It's interesting how immigrants change names of places such as how Americans changed the name of the Mexican province of Tejas (TAY has) to Texas,  ultimately making it theirs, and other fluctuations in pronunciations.
