What time in history has the human population been the most violent?

The Stone Age and other prehistoric societies had an adult male death rate of 10–15, sometimes even 20%. That compares to 3–5% during the years of WW2.

Some societies such as Samoa or Papua New Guinea, or the San people of the Kalahari had similar death rates right up into the 20th century.
